Since April 2022, real-money online gambling in Ontario runs through a licensed market overseen by iGaming Ontario. Rabona is an offshore operator and is not registered with iGaming Ontario, so it sits outside that framework. This page explains what Rabona is, factually, and why Ontario residents are better served by an operator on the provincial register.
Rabona launched in 2019 as a football-first betting brand and pairs a sportsbook with a casino of 2,000+ games on a single wallet. It accepts Canadian dollars. None of that changes the regulatory point: for Ontario players, the question is not whether the site works but whether it holds a provincial licence, and Rabona does not.
How online gambling is licensed in Ontario
Ontario opened its regulated iGaming market on 4 April 2022. Operators sign a commercial agreement with iGaming Ontario and are regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. Only sites on that register may legally offer real-money casino and betting to Ontario residents. Rabona does not appear on it.
The practical difference for a player is dispute recourse. A registered operator answers to the AGCO; a complaint has somewhere to go. With an offshore site, the only backstop is whatever regulator issued its licence abroad - which in Rabona's case is not stated consistently across sources (see below).

The exact regulator is reported inconsistently - some listings point to Curacao/Antillephone, others to PAGCOR or Anjouan, and the named operating company varies. For reference only: Rabona lists Interac, Gigadat, Visa, Mastercard, MuchBetter, Neosurf, Payz, Jeton, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin. Interac and Gigadat are the familiar Canadian rails. Note that some reports describe slow payouts and repeated KYC requests on offshore withdrawals - a recurring theme with sites that have no local licensing to answer to.
